Where the Martha Brae meets the sea at Glistening Waters, fresh water and salt water mix over a warm shallow bed. Microscopic dinoflagellates in that water give off light when they are disturbed, so the boat's wake glows, and so does anything you trail through it.
Boats run after dark, which is the only time the effect is visible. The trip lasts about an hour and you are welcome to swim. It is worth doing on a night with little moon.
